This is an experiment.
Rather than send traditional newlsetters from my webhost, I’m giving Substack a whirl. Be patient with my learning curve as I aim to bring you recommendations, resources, and ideas for curating your space for more intentional beauty, rest, and health.
The internet is a big place.
I’ll be honest. Running a new business feels like throwing spaghetti at the wall. IG posts get little engagement. I’m figuring it out, so I can do the work that I love.
Let’s make magic.
I’ve been involved in some magical projects over the last year! I assisted the deeply talented Fowler Interior Design with a very special residential furniture plan that exposed me to the best of the best in custom furnishings. An dear architect friend referred a bathroom remodel my way, and I helped the clients select materials to fit their concept, creating a serene, modern, and ever so slightly glam WC. I provided conceptual, schematic and construction drawings for a basement remodel project, and lots of smaller consultations. Transforming your space, seeing the before and the after, is what I live for. It is so satisfying to help improve the flow, function, and material palette that FEELS better to live in. I’m offering a very accessible virtual design package that I hope you’ll check out. It’s intended for transforming one room at a time with my design specifications and your implementation. It makes receiving design guidance easy, quick, and relatively affordable. Let’s make magic!
What to expect
While previously my mailings were seasonal, I’ll be doing more frequent, bite sized updates and offerings. I’m focusing on exploring my local design resources in Portland, OR and sharing them with you! While I don’t fancy myself a taste-maker, I’m not sure what else to call this. I’m certainly no influencer, but I have a wealth of knowledge to share. Keep reading for a few current offerings!
MASSAGE ROOM DESIGN
This course at OSM has been a great success in helping LMTs realize the potential healing effect of their treatment rooms. I hope to inspire individual practitioners to more mindfully curate their spaces, and reach spas and wellness centers who are ready for a refresh as well. Do you know of a wellness space that has seen better days?
A partnership with House of Leon
Visit my shop with House of Leon for 10% off! This LA based furnishings shop aligns with our values and has some really gorgeous pieces. Explore and discover what they have to offer! As a SoCal native myself, I particularly love the Ojai collection. I’ll be visiting LA later this year, bringing you more collaborative design resources from showrooms like Siglo Moderno, A + R and many more.
Local Digs : Cargo // The New Modernist // Many more under one roof.
Portland’s Cargo is a true smorgasbord of design delights all under one roof. Textiles, ceramics, furnishings, clothing, letterpress. Since I’d been there last, they’ve brought in many of our fair city’s curated shops like Woonwinkel and Pigeon Toe Ceramics. I’d stopped in to visit Emma of The New Modernist since I’m sourcing more vintage pieces lately. Please go check out her shop if you’re looking for some unique vintage and custom furnishings, as she designs several pieces herself and has a degree in Art History.
That’s all for now! Please, KIT 😘 xx Jamie
