Seasonal and cyclical patterns are such a big part of my life, I thought I’d loop into the astrological ‘seasons’, if you will, for a slightly more frequent newsletter.
While I don’t do astrologcial forcasting (for a long list of referrals to astro peeps who do, please see my blog), following the seasonal shifts and astrological weather can influcence how we experience our environments, within and without.
The Sun entered Gemini on Tuesday, May 20th, soon followed by Mercury entering Gemini on Sunday May 25th. Jupiter remains in Gemini until June 9th, and Uranus will enter Gemini on July 7th.
Gemini is an air sign, ruled by Mercury. Duality, paradox, Hermes the psychopomp, communication (both speaking and listening), thought, information, the mind, travel, insights, boundaries, athame, ideas, curiosity, winged ones, socializing, and messenger are some key words.
Here are a few ways to align with Gemini energy in your space:
Create conversational seating areas that promote connection and socializing
Add an outdoor dining area for the impromptu garden party
Throw a karaoke party
Add plants indoors, in the yard, or in a cup of tea. Rosemary is my favorite herb for mental clarity and support. Herbs traditionally associated with Mercury include Cinnamon, Dill, Ephedra, Lavender, Licorice, Gum Mastic, Marjoram, Mouseear, Mullein, Star Anise, Thyme and Woodruff.
Listen to birdsong, or if you have the outdoor space create a backyard sanctuary
Refresh your office - this might mean a set up better ergonomics, better layout, choosing a room with a view, and creating space for both productivity and relaxation
Open your windows for fresh air circulation
Create magical space- a place to journal, pull tarot cards, do breathwork, or to quiet the noise on the meditation cushion.
Surround yourself natural materials that b r e a t h e : cotton, linen & wool
Create a reading nook by a large window
Does Gemini season have you buzzing with loads of ideas for your space, but you’re not sure where to start? Let’s work together!
I discovered these ‘divergent design questions’ from
in the book Unmasking Autism by Devon Price, PhD and wanted to share them here. These fully embody my ethos of ‘sensual interiors for well-being’!What are some textures that ground you or your senses?
Do you enjoy minimalistic, spare space, or a cozy space filled with familiar objects?
What smells do you find relaxing? What smells invigorate you?
Do you enjoy dim light, colorful lights, or bright, white lights?
What objects do you enjoy holding or having near you?
Do you need background noise in order to focus? Is there ambient noise in your surroundings that you need to block out?
Do you hold on to any objects or furniture out of a sense that you ‘should’ appreciate them? if you could let go of those things, what might you put in their place?
I’d also like to highlight the work of
and her guide to creating inclusive work environments.Over the last few months, I’ve focused on getting my treatment room design course out there, and I’m so grateful for those of you who have signed up! Thank you!
I’ll have another treatment room design webinar on July 29th through Massage Magazine. Stay tuned for details!
Wishing you a lively and enthusiastic Gemini season! Please reach out if you’re ready to refresh your space!
